Bayern midfielder, Bastian Schweinsteiger, has fuelled recent speculations linking him with a move to Old Trafford with a picture taken at Wimbledon. The German international was helping his tennis star girlfriend, Ana Ivanovic as she prepares for the Wimbledon Tennis Grand Slam.
With his current deal with the German Bundesliga champions due to end next season, the Germany international has been heavily linked with a move to the EPL, with United, a possible target. Manchester United’s search for a midfielder is highly publicised, and Schweinsteiger along with a couple of other midfielders are being touted as possible signings this window.
The picture taken by a fan of the English club, Sascha Moor, shows the World Cup winner helping his girlfriend out during a practice match. The supporter wrote: Bastian Schweinsteiger showing his Wimbledon support. Future Man U star? he wouldn’t say…”
Signing a player in the class of Schweinsteiger would represent a massive statement of intent for the Red Devils, which could well be the start of a new era under Louis van Gaal, who in his first season as United manager, helped his team to a fourth place finish—thereby taking up the last spot of the Champions League.
Manchester United have already signed Dutch winger, Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven this summer, but are now looking to add some more players to his team before the end of the current transfer window.
With about eight weeks left until the Window comes to an end, it remains to be seen if Schweinsteiger, who is the current German captain will make the switch to Old Trafford.
