Liverpool skipper says Liverpool need a striker next season to achieve goals

Steven Gerrard has held talks with Liverpool's hierarchy about a future return – as he set out his wish to see the club buy a proven striker.
The curtain will come down on Gerrard's Anfield playing career against Crystal Palace on Saturday and he will sever a 25-year association with Liverpool on Sunday week at the Britannia Stadium in the final game against Stoke.
He will spend the following 18 months in Major League Soccer with LA Galaxy but Gerrard is already giving thought to one day coming back in a coaching role at Liverpool and he has held preliminary talks with Brendan Rodgers and Chairman Tom Werner about the next steps.

Gerrard, who insists he would not take a position on the backroom staff purely because of his reputation, has started his coaching badges and has worked with youngsters at Liverpool's Academy and it is something he enjoys.
'At the end of the day, underneath it all, I am a supporter,' said Liverpool's captain. 'I always will be. So if there isn't a role, it certainly wouldn't be the end of the world. I'll be coming to support the lads like a normal punter.
