Reports yesterday suggested that the Serie A outfit were close to sealing a deal for Van Persie.
The Dutch striker is said to be considering his future at Old Trafford after struggling for playing time under Louis van Gaal this season.
Van Persie linked up with the Dutch national team ahead of their friendly with the United States yesterday.
And the reports intensified this morning when a worker at Rome's Fiumicino Airport posted a photo with Van Persie on Twitter.
But Lotito has not hit out at the claims, telling Corrierre dello Sport: "Van Persie? Haven't you figured this out yet?

"It's all rubbish! Total bull! (Agent Vincenzo) Morabito is the one trying to spread these rumours."
Sky Sports Italia also claim that Roma have no interest in Van Persie, so it is not clear why the player was reportedly in Rome.
