Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentis insists that the Argentine is set to stay put at the Stadio San Paolo unless someone decided to pay a ridiculous sum of money for his services.
“Higuain’s future? If a player has a contract this contract has to be respected,” he said. “If a someone arrives and offers to pay foolish money and meet his buy-out clause then one must consider it. Otherwise Pipita [Higuain] will remain here.”
Manchester United and Arsenal remain keen admirers of the former Real Madrid player, but neither are willing to break the bank on the 27 year old.
Higuain is one of most lethal strikers in the planet and has been one of world football’s most consistent goalscorer over the last few years. Both United and Arsenal know they will have to sign a world class poacher this summer and Higuain fits the bill.
It was believed that Napoli might cash in on their prized asset after missing out onChampions League football, but it seems the Italians are set to hold on to their talisman.
Whether the price drops down as the window opens, remains to be seen. But as long as the asking price remains as it is, Manchester United and Arsenal are both likely to look elsewhere.
Despite his clear ability and talent, signing Higuain for 100 million euros, makes no sense whatsoever, financially or in footballing terms.
