Manchester United will look to sign a ” world class midfielder” to support Michael Carrick and ease the pressure on the England International although the midfielder is expected to play an important part for the club next season, Newspaper media outlet MEN has revealed.
It’s hardly revelatory to point a stick at United’s midfield and question their options – it’s been done to death for close to three years now.
Carrick’s rise to prominence is well noted and he has established himself as a cornerstone of the first-team, but the fact is he is relied upon far too heavily. And to reduce some burden on Carrick’s shoulders United must pursue interest in players like Gaitan and Gundogan , player’s that can make difference when playing.
United need creative things to be done in the central midfield and Marouane Fellaini was recruited to this in the middle of the park. But so far he has struggled to produce his best form and United look to catch hold of another like-minded and quality player.
Borrusia Dortmund midfielder Gundogan looks good to take up this kind of role, Over in Germany, Gundogan’s numbers this season are very good and would be a good addition to the current United team.
In the Bundesliga he has made 26 tackles in nine matches at 2.9 per game for Dortmund while picking off interceptions 12 times. The opposite is true of Carrick, who has made 19 tackles and 40 interceptions, while Fellaini stands at nine tackles and 12 interceptions in seven appearances. The potential is there for a ferocious
ball-winning, smothering machine.
This tells us that Gundogan is pretty much a player like Fellaini and Carrick. He can string small passes in the midfield like Fellaini and can tackle like crazy very much like Carrick.
Overall, he is an entirely different prospect to the options Louis Van Gaal has at his disposal, and will be an ideal signing for the club.
