Man Utd delight as David De Gea agrees £200,000-per week deal

Manchester United's goalie has decided what to do about interest from the Bernabeu - and if the papers are to be believed, it's great news for United fans.

De Gea picks Man United stay despite Real Madrid interest - David De Gea is going to sign a new contract with Manchester United, according to The Sun. There has been concern at Old Trafford that De Gea would leave them this summer for Real Madrid, but he's going to ink a new two-year deal that will pay him £200,000-per-week. He may very well leave the club on a free in two years, but for now his future is at Man United.

Paper Round's view - If United are offering £200,000-per-week then Real Madrid are just about out of this for now. They can't afford to pay a gigantic transfer fee and those type of wages. It's not ideal for United, who will worry about him leaving for free in two years, or even selling on the cheap next summer, but they at least keep their star goalkeeper for now and that's a win in the short-term. And longer term? Well, if United are where Louis van Gaal claims they'll be this time next year - i.e. about to lift the title - then De Gea may well not want to leave.
Newcastle want McClaren to manage rest of season - Steve McClaren was Newcastle's top choice to take over as manager this summer, but The Mail now claim that the Magpies want him to take the job immediately. Newcastle have lost eight consecutive league matches and are now facing relegation. With Derby failing to make the Championship play-offs, McClaren is now free and the Magpies are ready to rid themselves of Carver now to make way for McClaren.
Paper Round's view - It's no secret that Newcastle want McClaren and it would be a surprise if he wasn't the Magpies manager on the first day of next season. But to take over the team now would be a bit of a shock. It's a lot to as McClaren to go from one job straight into another after he'd just managed an entire Championship season, but if McClaren sees Newcastle as his future job and he really believes the Magpies might get relegated then he'll have to take the gig now to ensure he's managing in the top flight next season.

Arsenal to start talks with Rosicky, Flamini - Tomas Rosicky and Mathieu Flamini could all leave Arsenal this summer, according to The Mirror. Rosicky's contract is up and he will be able to depart on a free transfer, while the Gunners may cut Flamini loose. Both players have played sparingly this season and Rosicky almost left in January. Now the two, 34 and 31 years old respectively, are set to meet with Arsene Wenger about their futures.
Paper Round's view - It's tough to see much of a future for Rosicky and Flamini this summer. Rosicky had interested from his old club, Sparta Prague, and was convinced to stay at Arsenal in January, but now he hasn't played since March. It's tough to imagine him jumping on for more time at the Emirates. The hurdle to Flamini's departure is probably price, but if the Gunners are willing to let him leave for free to rid themselves of his wages, he'll probably move on.

Newcastle can't recall Lascelles - Newcastle can't turn to Jamal Lascelles in the final matches of the season. The Newcastle Chronicle claims that the loan deal that sent Lascelles to Nottingham Forest this season runs through the Championship play-offs, and that holds even though Forest didn't make the play-off. Newcastle are desperate for defenders after Daryl Janmaat and Mike Williamson were sent off, earning two-match suspensions, and Paul Dummett is injured, but Lascelles can't be their savior.
Paper Round's view - It is certainly silly that Newcastle can't call in Lascelles. After all, he has nothing left to do for Forest, but if that's what the contract says then there is nothing Newcastle can do about it. They're going to have to hope that Fabricio Coloccini plays incredible, Dummett gets fit and one of their kids can shine. Either that or the relegation contenders all lose
