Aston Villa are hopeful of bringing Asmir Begovic to the club

Tim Sherwood is not said to be a fan of Brad Guzan and ushered the American aside for veteran Shay Given last term.
Now Villa are after a new stopper and Begovic, who is expected to leave Stoke City this summer, has been mooted as a potential option.
The Bosnian international is also wanted by Chelsea but the prospect of first-team football at Villa Park might win him round.
Aston Villa have released forward Nicklas Helenius after two forgettable seasons at the club.
He was signed two years ago but struggled to adapt to English football and also had injury problems going against him.
The Dane has joined AaB Aalborg, his former team, on a free transfer – as reported by the Birmingham Mail.
In case you missed it, Aston Villa completed a new signing yesterday.
The club snapped up Idrissa Gueya from Lille in a deal The Guardian claim is worth £9 million.
The Senegalese midfielder has completed a medical and agreed personal terms.

The official announcement should come early next week.
